Temponome: Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Temponome does not send personal information, audio, or usage data to us. No account is required. Tempo detection runs locally on your Mac.

Audio Processing

When you start detection, Temponome captures system audio to estimate its tempo in beats per minute (BPM). This may include sound from other applications playing at the same time. Audio samples are processed in memory and are not saved as audio files or uploaded.

Capture stops when a result is found, you stop detection, or you quit the app. If there is silence, detection can remain active while waiting for audio.

Data Storage

Your auto-hide preference is saved locally using macOS preferences and remains available between app launches.

Temponome also writes diagnostic messages to the macOS logging system. These can include detection events, BPM estimates, confidence values, and audio capture errors. They do not contain audio recordings. The app does not upload these logs; their storage and retention are managed by macOS.

Permissions

Audio Capture: Temponome requires permission to capture system audio for tempo detection. It does not use your microphone or capture screen images.

You can manage or revoke this permission in macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security. Without it, Temponome cannot detect the tempo of system audio.

Third-Party Services

Temponome contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking services and makes no network requests. Its audio analysis library, aubio, runs locally as part of the app.

This policy covers Temponome itself. External websites and platform services have their own privacy policies.

Data Security

Audio processing and preference storage take place on your device. Local preferences and diagnostic logs are subject to macOS access controls and your device's security settings. We do not receive or maintain a server-side copy of this information.

Children's Privacy

Temponome does not transmit personal information to us from users of any age, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If the app's data handling changes, we will revise this page and update the date above.
